Do you feel called as a missionary?  Do you desire the opportunity to spend more time in country than a short-term trip provides?  Beyond Survival is excited to announce the beginning of our Swazi Internship program.  This is a pilot program that provides the opportunity for individuals to spend a semester in Swaziland alongside other missionaries, not only ministering to the Swazi people, but experiencing the day-to-day life of living as a missionary in Swaziland.  This program is for those individuals that not only want to bless and minister to others, but see the benefit of God’s work in their own heart through missions.  It requires someone with the ability to be flexible and adapt to a different culture.

Meet our first intern, Kimberly Woolridge:

Kimberly Woolridge, of Colorado, is an adventure-loving girl who loves to be near the ocean and in the mountains. She grew up as a pastor and church planters’ kid in Powder Springs, Georgia. In the winter of 2001, Kimberly recognized her need for a Savior and began to embrace God’s love and grace. In the summer of 2005, she started to dig deeper into discovering God’s truth through His Word. Through this time of transformation, she realized that God had beautiful things in store for her, and God put in her a desire to reach people around the world in the name of Jesus Christ. She is currently working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts as a student at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. She absolutely loves serving in the middle school ministry at Vanguard Church and is passionate about leading young girls to grasp the beauty and power of Jesus Christ’s life and death.

Kimberly was listening to a message at Vanguard Church on February 7, 2010, when she first heard of Swaziland. On that day, the Lord opened Kimberly’s heart to an ache that she had never known. As she sat in church, she intently watched the screen as the speaker directed the congregation to the story of a woman named Fortunate, a woman dying of AIDS. Tears formed in her eyes as her heart began to break for a woman she did not know from a place she had never heard of. The tears dried and the red from her face faded but her heartache for Swaziland lingered. On that same day, Kimberly met Rick and Laura Clapp, who were preparing to lead their fourth team to serve at the Bhalekane care point in Manzini, Swaziland. The Lord then led her to Swaziland in 2010 and 2011, where He continued to mold and break her heart for His people in Swaziland. Kimberly says that she loved Swaziland before she even set foot there. She truly experienced a heart set free and made alive by her maker in Swaziland as well as at home in Colorado. Through her time in Swaziland and back at home, Kimberly began to share Rick and Laura’s heart for Swaziland and their vision for Beyond Survival.

Kimberly is stoked to partner with Beyond Survival on her third trip to Swaziland this fall, from August 27 to December 11. She will be staying with Adventures in Missions missionaries and partnering with them as they live out the calling the Lord has placed on their lives. She is experiencing the Lord’s faithfulness through his financial provision for her trip. She is amazed at how God is providing and is ready to see what the Lord has in store in Swaziland as she partners with Beyond Survival.
