Testimonials

  • Rick asks really insightful questions and I have found value in his counsel, and oftentimes permission, to take care of myself. His encouragement to work "on" the business instead of "in" the business has been a great accountability. I have appreciated his book recommendations and resources. I envy his rhythms and systems and have enjoyed hearing how he uses technology to help in those areas. Personally, I have enjoyed the listening and caring Rick provides. Rick leading our team off-site weekend retreat was one of the most valuable contributions to our leadership team.

    Jason Kraft

Founder & CEO at Compass Ag Solutions

  • Rick has helped me use the 5% tool to drive focus in my life on the core things that matter to me. He has the ability to listen to the areas I am struggling with and provide guidance and fresh perspective on how to handle challenges with my business and people. He pushes me to grow through reading books and developing my leadership skills. He has helped me and my wife to discover our values and map those into the lanes of our lives to ensure we are focusing our time and energy in the right places and saying no to things that are not a good fit.

    Brent Holcombe

    CEO at Holcombe Mixers

  • Rick provides real, solid action plans, and the steps to change our current rhythms and trajectory. He provides a safe space to be completely transparent without judgement or negative ramifications. He has so much real life experience, loving care for the leader, and is passionate to see people thrive.

Josh Imhoff Executive Director YWAM Emerge

  • Rick's authenticity is a piece of all of his coaching. Because he walks the talk--he tries out the different frameworks & implements them as they work in his life, he is a business owner, etc.--is coming from a place where he can relate, but also of having to buckle down and do the hard work. His special sauce, if I had to sum it up, is that he is able to sit in that space between seemingly divergent or even polar opposite qualities (business-sense & empathy / big-picture thinking & pragmatism) and bring those things together in a way that is special and unique for the person he is working with, all while showing genuine interest in the wellbeing of the person and the business.

    Amber Richman

Founder & CEO at Cambio Yoga

  • I really appreciate Rick's ability to be flexible and provide valuable insight and interaction around what was going on in my "present". I greatly valued the work with the overall structure of the beyond survival coaching journey, but the insights in the moment that he provided were over and above what | valued most about our coaching experience. ick is a great listener and provided thoughtful, and grace filled insight that was supported by his own experience.

    Jon Gibson

Senior Pastor at The Point Church

  • Rick doesn't mind shooting straight, which is invaluable to me. His ministry experience at large churches and the fact that he has led from the 2nd chair has helped me immensely. He has consumed a wealth of books and seminars and shares that valuable knowledge. The tools he has created are helpful in so many situations. The most valuable thing to me is that he embodies all these things, Rick practices what he preaches.

    Chris Barker

    Associate Pastor at Brookhaven Church

  • Rick cares. I wasn't just a client or a dollar amount for him to make. He cared about me first. Secondly, he cared about my success and customized a plan to help me move forward. I learned how to find time for myself outside of work...something I had forgotten how to do. Rick is patient, knowledgeable, and adaptive. He provides a template that is able to be customized to every client.

    Scott Kirby

Founder & CEO, Five Lines Creative

  • Rick has the ability to hear what I say and turn it into an actionable version what I really mean. For example, I would say things like "I would like to have my kids actually know who I am", and he turned that into "Cory will work 30 hours or less, effective on this date", and then he followed up with me to make sure I was actually delivering on what we had mutually agreed upon. I'm grateful to not just get ideas from Rick, but to have him walk the path with me as we implemented those ideas.

    Cory LaPlante

Founder & CEO at LaPlante Management

  • I can't speak highly enough about our conversations. They've been truly enjoyable and eye-opening. Rick and I went beyond the usual business talk and delved deep into the various aspects of life, which I found immensely valuable. What impressed me most was Rick's willingness to engage on challenging personal topics; taking an integrated whole life approach. Also, I've been genuinely impressed by Rick's spontaneous problem-solving skills. Whether it was a specific person or a complex issue we were tackling, I consistently found immense value in our candid and robust conversations.

    Ben FIsk

Founder & CEO at Fisk Landscapes

  • The most valuable part of our coaching engagement, that continues to stick with me today, was the way Rick helped me slice through the chaos and begin to lay out a better way to spend my time and energy. Seeing the patterns and trends embedded in my work week, (day, month, and year) helped me to start to prioritize the highest value/impact items and think about eliminating or outsourcing the rest. Rick's concept of the weekly review helped me develop the rhythms to live on purpose and with more life energy.

Beyond Survival’s first global initiative began in 2006 with a partnership in Eswatini, Africa, supporting the Bhalekane Community Care Point founded by Walter, who set out to care for over 500 orphans in his community. What started as a few meals a week has grown into daily meals, a preschool, a community center, teacher housing, and more—transforming lives through committed sponsors and annual mission teams.
